Our first Kenyan filter coffee this year is coming from the Nyeri district - on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Rich volcanic soil contributes to the fantastic taste properties of Kenyan coffees.
This is the second time we are working with Kaiguri. This season the cup profile has wonderful plum and blackberry tastes. Rounded of by rhubarb flavours this coffee has a great sweet-sour sensation this is so prevalent in high quality Kenyan coffees.
Kaiguri was inaugurated in 1969 as one of 18 factories of the former Tetu cooperative. The processing station is nearest to the Karma hills in Othaya - which gives it the best soils for coffee farming.
All cherries picked by hand and continuously sorted for quality. Fermentation time depends on the weather - it usually takes up to 28 hours. All coffees are soaked for a second time for one hour. Slow sun drying over 14 days in raised African beds to evenly dry the beans and keep a moist cell structure.
We never blend any of our coffees and sell whole beans only to keep them as fresh as possible for you. All our coffees are fresh in season and of highest grading. We make it a point to pay a premium that enables our farmers to build a sustainable business and produce a high quality product in which they take great pride.
